Why not go out on a limb? That's where the fruit is.

Anecdote

Why not go out on a limb? That’s been one of my favorite quotes since I discovered Mark Twain.

I grew up in a rural area near a very small northern Wisconsin town where I climbed a few trees and literally went out on a few limbs. My roots are still there, but the branches have reached outside the Northwoods, and my fruit is hopefully sown wherever I go. Now that doesn’t mean I wish to have children wherever I go (I don’t have children yet). It simply means that I wish to leave a favorable impression, share knowledge, exchange ideas, and ultimately make a difference for everyone
a positive way.

I spent a short time in Chicago, and my current home is Milwaukee – a smaller city, very diverse and with much more to offer than most outsiders may believe.

Personally, people fascinate me. I love to travel and experience new places, cultures, and people, and I love to learn. If I weren’t in the Communications field, I’d probably be an anthropologist. Or a rock star. I enjoy cooking, reading, singing, politics, a good drink, playing sports, listening to music and simply being creative. Occasionally I’ll paint; I’m horrible at it, but it’s very enjoyable for me. I also occasionally write for leisure.

Professionally, I’m a total nerd when it comes to brand development and communications. What really gives me a kick is building identities and taking images and ideas that clients have of their products, services, and businesses, and communicating them through something concrete and tangible that everyone else can finally see, relate to, and experience. I combine a multifarious collection of knowledge and skills with exemplary small town values and adventurous drive. If I were a book, the cover would have an almost stoic look and feel, while the inner pages would house stories of passion, creativity, and motivation.

I believe there are better ways to effectively communicate in the corporate world than with buzzwords and mash-ups. I also do not subscribe to “thinking outside the box” because I believe either there is no box, or the box is so gargantuan we haven’t seen the limits of what’s inside.

Ever an idealist, I aspire to have a positive influence and one day benevolently rule the world – providing the people of the world would allow it. Otherwise, I will benevolently remain a positively contributing part of human civilization. Please keep in mind that though I will go out on a limb and occasionally do great things, my powers will only be used for good or for awesome.
